Kigarashi premium resonator
The Shigeru piano's custom cone resonator is made exclusively from the finest spruce wood, created through the traditional kigarashi process, which uses only the forces of time and nature to allow the wood to achieve its natural balance. This long and painstaking process gives Shigeru pianos their uniquely rich sound quality.
"Shiko-seion" hammers
The "Seion" hammers, which derive their name from the Japanese words for "ultimate sound", are the exclusive domain of Master Piano Artists, who oversee their ensembles from start to finish. Each hammer is meticulously hand-pressed without the application of heat and without artificial hardeners to ensure outstanding dynamic response and expression.
"Konsei Katagi" ribs
The exclusive Konsei Katagi frets use a distinctive hardwood blend to achieve the ideal tonal balance. For the inner rim, the small, porous hardwood, which provides excellent gloss and prominence, is made from a dense, large-sized hardwood that lends warmth and fullness. The synergy of structurally divergent hardwoods results in a powerful, multi-colored tone that is the hallmark of Shigeru pianos.
Millennium III mechanics
Our acclaimed Millennium III mechanics use high-tech ABS Carbon components that are exceptionally light and stiff to deliver faster repetitions and more powerful performance with less effort. Microscopic surface textures on selected action elements provide excellent response and control.
Stretcher Over-Lap Integrated Design (SOLID) provides an extremely rigid base to support body tension. With the SOLID construction, the pinblock is hand-mounted to the plate. The pinblock and overflow stretcher are integrated into a single structure and firmly attached to the rim. The resulting frame provides outstanding strength and rigidity for stable tuning and volume amplification.
Longer keyboard brackets
We extend the entire length of each key rest to facilitate playability and provide even more consistent touch and response from front to back. The key holders have a slightly higher profile for maximum rigidity.
Concert piano length keys
The use of hardwood maple keys increases stability for better energy transfer of the keys. The redesigned keys of the Shigeru concert series have been left twice as long to ensure exceptional energy transfer and optimal performance.
"Temaki" bass strings
In the Japanese language, the word temaki literally means "hand wound". During the temaki process, the craftsman patiently guides the creation of each bass guitar for absolute precision and tension to ensure rich character and excellent sound.
Concert Agraphs
Like the Shigeru Kawai Concert Agraffes used on his famous Ex Concert Grand Pianos, they are individually machined from brass bars for maximum precision and strength. The result is clear, powerful and impressive sound.
Spruce beams
Spruce is known for its excellent volume and preservation. However, it is generally considered too valuable for use as a structural material. In the case of Shigeru pianos, the lower beams are made entirely of the highest quality spruce.
Boxwood bridge caps
Boxwood is an extremely hard wood that is particularly effective at transmitting higher tonal frequencies through the bridge to the soundboard. The Boxwood bridge caps help the treble projection to complement the stronger bass sound of the tweeters. Used only in SK-5, SK-6 and SK-7 pianos.
Double hinged dampers
