Acoustic silence

The sound of the strings struck by the hammers resonate beautifully on the solid spruce. The pleasant vibration fills the room, mesmerizing your audience. Its natural sound is completely unmistakable for an acoustic piano.
A premium-quality piano prompts musicians to perform spontaneously and passionately, although unleashed musical self-expression is not always appropriate for the occasion. In fact, under certain circumstances, an acoustic piano can be disruptive. The industrious voices heard during children's scale exercises can disturb family members who would be watching television; but even the most delicate, soothing Chopin prelude can become a potential nuisance to the neighbors if it is not performed at an acceptable time.
Fortunately, the AnyTimeX2 series instruments feature acoustic muting with its powerful digital audio components, which together allow pianists to continue to enjoy the traditional piano sound while discreetly hearing their playing back through their own headphones. Exceptional tilt, optimal sensitivity, digital flexibility: a new dimension with the Kawai AnyTimeX hybrid pianos.

Mechanics

In 1971, Kawai reformed piano manufacturing technology, introducing ABS components within sophisticated mechanics. This compact, well-resistant composite material against external factors is intended to replace certain wooden elements, where they either tended to crack under the tension exposed for a long time or to contract or swell due to fluctuations in humidity. The use of ABS components in the mechanics brought a significant development in the field of modern piano design and in a short time earned the recognition of both pianists and builders. The Millennium III piano keyboard, debuted in 2006, was developed based on the three most important performing needs that a pianist can only desire - speed, control and power. The inclusion of ABS components allowed Kawai's developers to create a keyboard with lighter mechanical parts without compromising durability, tilt repetition optimization or reaction time, while maintaining an unprecedented playing experience.

Voice

Muting the acoustic parts, Kawai AnyTimeX2 pianos use unique digital technology developed and refined at Shigeru Kawai's Research and Development Laboratory in Ryuyo, Japan, delivering the unmistakably full, authentic sound of the premium, hand-crafted Kawai EX concert piano. The purpose-built anechoic chamber located inside is free of sound reflections, and the sound of the world's classic instruments has been analyzed and recorded by the manufactory's technical masters. Later, for each note, the acoustic sound image was transformed into a very precise three-dimensional digital sound, creating Kawai's patented 'Harmonic Imaging' technology. This unique process faithfully presents the full dynamic range of the original piano, while providing a rich selection of other great instrument tones.

IHSS Sensing System

A quality piano makes musicians perform enthusiastically, spontaneously and passionately. Conversely, the feel of the hammer hitting the strings is often lost with traditional piano tuning techniques. The sensors located under the keyboard can hardly reflect the musical expressions, which is why Kawai's AnyTimeX2 pianos have sensors built into the delicate internal structure of the keyboard, thus reading the movement of each hammer precisely. Whether during a fast musical phrase, which requires the same key to be pressed several times before it can return to its resting point, or even during the performance of a pianissimo piece, which requires the finest string touch, the integrated hammer sensing system (IHSS) can be used to represent the complex effects of each note details. Finally, pianists can enjoy absolute private comfort without losing the sensitive touch and expressiveness of a traditional piano.

Digital comfort

The AnyTimeX2 digital controller is placed under the gaming table. It features an innovative pull-out control panel that brings up the LCD screen and a row of setting buttons with a simple touch. Thanks to the digital unit, the capabilities of an AnyTimeX2 piano can be greatly expanded beyond those of the traditional version, such as transposition, fine-tuning settings or the metronome and record recorder (except on the K-15 ATX2) and a selection of additional excellent tones, ideal for various musical events . The double headphone connection provides more flexibility to academic institutions, while the other connection options enable diverse, creative music creation.

Harmonic Imaging XL (HI-XL)

With the expanded internal memory, the new Kawai AnyTimeX2 models have the largest sound samples of any of Kawai's digital instruments. This extra-long Harmonic Imaging sample adds 20% more depth to the piano sound per unit time, expressing natural details and resonant characteristics clearly with each note - improving the quality of the instrument's organic tonality. During the game, the effect exerted through the keyboard determines not only the strength of the sound, but also its characteristic tone. As a result, considering the acoustic sound image of the Kawai EX concert piano, not only each note was recorded, but also their different volume versions, from the gentlest pianissimo to the stormiest fortissimo. The AnyTimeX2 models offer a finely detailed sound image - the 'Harmonic Imaging' technology provides an authentic tonal transition across the entire keyboard, across the entire dynamic range.

88 keyboard piano samples

The beautiful sound of the Kawai EX piano is at the heart of the AnyTimeX2 series, all eighty-eight notes of this world-class instrument have been painstakingly recorded, meticulously analyzed and accurately represented in digital form.
Recording the sounds separately in this way, as opposed to editing the same sound to replace several different sounds, helps preserve the rich harmonic character of the Kawai EX concert piano and guarantees that the sound you hear is a faithful representation of the original acoustic source.

Acoustic piano variations

AnyTimeX2 models offer a selection of many acoustic piano sounds that are perfectly suited to the performance of different musical eras and styles. In addition, the traditional Kawai piano sound is also included, suitable for those pieces that are written in a nostalgic tone or require an even more intimate tone (except K-15 ATX2). It is essential for an experienced musician to use an acoustic piano to its full potential. In addition to meticulously tuning each note, he also makes various regulatory and tonal adjustments to ensure that the piano really sounds. With the help of the 'Virtual Technician' function, these parameters can be set digitally on the AnyTimeX2 and AnyTimeX2-f models. Players can also shape the characteristics of pitch, sound, hammer and key noises, strings, tailgate, and pedal resonance.

Digital piano diversity

Complementing the beautiful acoustic piano sound, AnyTimeX2 models have a great range of additional sounds, electronic piano and organs or church organs, strings and other instruments, inspiring musicians to expand their repertoire according to trends. AnyTimeX2 pianos have multiple playing modes. In the 'Dual playing' mode, it is possible to combine two tones simultaneously, such as a concert piano with strings, while the 'Split' and 'Four hands' modes allow the keyboard to be divided into two separate sections. In both cases, the volume ratios can be easily and quickly adjusted.

Redeveloped Effects and Reverb

AnyTimeX2's powerful new effects engine further enhances the instrument's exquisite timbres, adding layers of detail and realism to bring your performance to life. Studio-quality chorus, tremolo, echo and auto-panorama effects can be used to edit the characteristics and feel of the sound; and with the modeled simulations, the sound of contemporary electronic pianos and characteristically growling organs can be represented.
The spatial effect of the performance can be modified with the developed reverb effects, giving the pianists the opportunity to place themselves in six different acoustic environments, from a small practice hall to a large, inspiring cathedral.

Flexible USB/MIDI connection

The AnyTimeX2 models are equipped with MIDI connectors, with which they can be connected to a computer or MIDI devices. With the 'USB to Device' function (except K-15 ATX2), your favorite tone settings and memorable recordings stored in the internal memory can be saved to a USB device, as well as MIDI files previously downloaded and saved from the Internet. The instrument's extraordinary 'Harmonic Imaging XL' sound samples, without the use of additional external devices.

MP3 playback and recording

Audio files in MP3 or WAV format can also be played from USB memory sticks (except K-15 ATX2), enabling musicians to learn new chords or melodies, or simply play their favorite songs with accompaniment. What's more, complete performances can be recorded (including external line-in audio) directly in MP3 or WAV format, which can be ready to be sent by email to family members, friends or saved for later listening.

Useful connectivity options

In addition to 'USB to Device' connectors, AnyTimeX2 instruments are also equipped with LINE-level audio and MIDI jack connections. These useful connectivity options allow for a larger volume performance in a church or school auditorium; and offer more alternatives when connecting to a computer or other audio devices.

Integrated 'Lesson' function

The 'Lesson' function (except K-15 ATX2) helps enthusiastic pianists learn classical pieces - Czerny, Burgmüller, Beyer and Bach etudes. Also, emphasizing the methodology according to the acoustic piano, it also includes finger, scale and warm-up exercises, all included in the form of a printed book.
Energy saving
AnyTimeX2 models automatically turn off after a certain period of time without use.
